KPMG Report on APRIL Group’s Implementation of Sustainable Forest Management Policy 2.0

KPMG Performance Registrar Inc. (KPMG PRI) has completed an assurance engagement relating to the implementation by APRIL Group of its Sustainable Forest Management Policy (SFMP) 2.0. The report covers 34 performance indicators over the period between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021.

Progress was noted in a number of areas, including: improvements in stand productivity to meet fiber sufficiency objectives; low levels of fires across the company’s concessions; continued implementation of dispute resolution processes to address land disputes and to bring non-forested land back into production; continued investment in improved safety culture through the implementation of the Contractor Safety Management System; and the managing of land recovery to limit development to areas that are not forested and were not forested at the time APRIL’s mixed hardwood moratorium was announced in 2015.
