Video: APRIL Group – Sustainable Development Goals in Action
As one of the world’s leading pulp and paper companies, APRIL is committed to sustainable forest management, as part of a production-protection model that integrates economic and social development with environmental protection. This includes a commitment to zero deforestation, responsible peatland management, and close alignment with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with an emphasis on goals 12, 13, 15.
In 2018, APRIL began working with PwC to carry out an impact assessment of its operations in Riau Province, benchmarking its current performance against the SDGs. The assessment will help to guide the company’s decisions on which SDGs it should prioritise to advance sustainable development in the communities where it operates and best contribute to Indonesia’s achievement of the Goals.
In this video, created in partnership with Reuters and UK production company The Business Debate, a number of APRIL leaders – including APRIL Group Chairman, Bey Soo Khiang – talk about how the SDGs help connect the company’s strategies and contributions to community, national and global priorities.
