APRIL Statement on the Greenomics Report Alleging HCVF Clearance
(13 October) APRIL acknowledges with serious interest and concern the report published by Greenomics on 12 October which alleges clearing of High Conservation Value Forest areas in an APRIL concession area.
The same report has been submitted by Greenomics to the APRIL Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) which will discuss this matter during its next meeting on 10-12 November.
In our commitment to the SAC role and process, APRIL will engage a third-party audit firm to investigate the incidents and to report their findings to the SAC for their advice on the appropriate response and action.
Meantime, a preliminary report will be shared with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and which will be subject to verification once the results of the third-party audit are received by the SAC.
We reaffirm our commitment to the Sustainable Forest Management Policy 2.0 and specifically to the protection and management of our HCV areas.
We consider Greenomics as an important stakeholder, value their inputs, and would be open to further engagement with them as we strive to progress with our sustainability initiatives.
