WBCSD has issued a membership update on the introduction of APRIL’s sustainability policy in January. It also reported on the first meeting of the APRIL Stakeholder Advisory Committee. The update concluded by stating that “WBCSD is encouraged by these promising first steps taken by APRIL Group.”

WBCSD is represented on APRIL’s five-person Stakeholder Advisory Committee. The independent committee of forest and social experts oversees implementation of APRIL’s sustainability policy. It also provides a window into APRIL’s activities, reporting regularly on the company’s progress.

During a two-day meeting in March, the committee reviewed APRIL policy objectives and defined the role of committee members. One of the responsibilities will be selecting an independent verifier to conduct a benchmark performance review of APRIL’s policy implementation. The first report is planned for October.
